Living an Interactive Life with God

Rather than simply believing in God from a distance, He invites us into a living relationship - one in which He walks with us, guides us, strengthens us and shares every part of our lives.
God desires:
A relationship, not simply religious observance.
Daily conversation, not only occasional prayer.
Our trust, even in life's ordinary moments.
Our joy, as a loving Father delights in His children.
This invitation is not reserved for a select few. It is offered to every one of us.

Bringing Sunday into Monday
What if we lived every day with the same awareness of God's presence that we naturally have when we walk into a church?
When we enter a church, we naturally become:
More reverent
More patient
More aware of God
More careful with our words
More respectful of others
Imagine carrying that same attitude into:
Your home
Your workplace
Your family life
Your friendships
Your everyday conversations
That is the beginning of living an interactive life with God.
Reflection - as you read, consider asking yourself:
Do I speak with God throughout the day, or only during formal prayer?
Am I attentive to the ways He may already be guiding me?
Am I living differently outside church than I do inside it?
What might God be inviting me to change?
Discernment: learning to recognise God's guidance
Every decision creates consequences, like a pebble dropped into a still pond. The ripples spread much further than we often realise.
Our decisions can affect:
Our spouse
Our children
Our friends
Our workplace
Our parish community
Even people we may never meet
For this reason, discernment is not simply about asking: "What do I want to do?"
Instead, we ask: "Where is God leading me?"
Reflection - looking back over a decision, ask yourself:
Did it produce peace?
Did it strengthen relationships?
Did it draw me closer to God?
Did it bear good fruit?
Or instead...
Did it create confusion?
Did it lead to division?
Did it disturb my peace?
Did it distance me from God?
Hindsight often becomes one of our greatest teachers in discernment.
The challenges facing families today
Families face pressures that previous generations could scarcely have imagined.
These include:
Anxiety
Anger
Broken family relationships
Digital dependency
Pornography
Gaming addiction
Drug and alcohol abuse
Cyberbullying
Isolation
Spiritual confusion
These challenges remind us why prayer within the family is more important than ever.
The good news is, we have the authority, through faith, to take responsibility for our own lives and to pray for protection, guidance and grace for our families.
The Prayer to Take Authority is one of the most powerful prayers a layperson can pray to help combat these challenges and take authority for ourselves and our families.
Preparing to Pray
Before praying the Prayer to Take Authority you need to prepare spiritually.
This includes:
Spending time reflecting on your family situation.
Seeking to remain in a state of grace through the Sacrament of Reconciliation where possible.
Praying with faith.
Trusting in Christ's authority rather than your own strength.
Prayer is never about our power.
It is about placing our confidence completely in Jesus Christ.
God desires to be actively involved in every aspect of our lives.
Living an interactive life with God means:
speaking with Him throughout the day,
learning to recognise His guidance,
growing in discernment,
protecting our families through prayer,
and trusting in the authority Christ has entrusted to His Church.
As we grow closer to Him, we become more aware of His presence, more confident in His guidance and better equipped to live as faithful disciples in the world.
